Kuching’s first equinox

Side talk: There is either an equinox (autumn and spring) or a solstice (summer and winter) on approximately the 21st day of the last month of every quarter of the calendar year.

Sarawak - Truly Asia! With a potpourri of Chinese, Malays, Dayaks, and Indians, this is a place where I truly call home. This is a place where you can meet the friendliest people on earth, the most livable place, and most importantly a shopping paradise. With another 18 days to go, I will set my foot again on the soil which I have stood for 18 years. The whole experience and scenario will be very different for this Chinese New Year season. Spring has came to live and Boulevard is now a hot avenue in Kuching! Boulevard, located at 4th Mile, which is very near to my house was opened on 22nd December 2007. The Spring, located at Simpang Tiga, which is not very near to my house was opened on 10th January 2008 (on the day I write this post)! A few years ago, conversations with my friends sounded like this:

Friend: Daniel, want to go out tonight?
Daniel: Huh? Where to? Friend: Hui Sing Garden or Pasar or Padugan or Taman Kereta…
Daniel (frown): These places again…
Friend: Yalah, only these few places…
Daniel: Ok la. You pick a place and we all meet there.

This upcoming comeback to Kuching, things are going to be different:

Friend: Daniel, want to go out tonight?
Daniel: Sure! We can drink kopi at Airport, or go watch lengluis at the Spring or Boulevard.
Friend: Man, great idea!
Daniel (excited): Kuching finally can stand as tall as Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru!!!
Friend: Yalah, finally Kuching got hope!
Daniel: We are proud to be Sarawakian, especially Kuchingites.
Friend: Yeah! Bachelors on the run! D
aniel: See you guys tonight!

Citizens of Kuching have a lot of reasons to rejoice and be happy! For 18 years, my mum and dad have been buying our family needs at Saberkas, Tun Jugah, Everise, Upwell, Crowne Plaza, Sarawak Plaza, and etcetera. All these while, we have been eating at kopitiam and stall because there were not much choices. All these while, I have been so determined that no way am I going to buy new clothes in Kuching because of the snail-pace fashion.

Things are different now! Development is coming to town! Just for your information, my house is the best place to live. It is just a stone throw to Kuching International Airport, a two stone throw to Hospital Sentosa and mental hospital, a three stone throw to Boulevard and Bus Station, a four stone throw to my former Green Road Secondary School and St Paul Primary School, and a five stone stone to the heart of Kuching as well as the outskirts of Kuching. More updates on Kuching when I spend my three weeks holiday at home. With my new Sony Ericsson W850i and my faithful Canon Powershot A450 I will be able to grab a few good sights to share with my Peninsula Malaysia’s friends. I managed to find two bloggers from Kuching who also blogged about Kuching, they are Wombok and Apple.

Side talk: Guys, really sorry for the lack of updates. My study is killing me and I have quite a number of meetings to attend each week. On another end, I have earned RM1.75 in three weeks time from my nuffnang advertisements. I’ve just changed to a new Dilectio theme because the previous CleanJS theme sucks!
