3G for DiGi

3G for DiGi! It sure rhymes. I have been waiting for this, my Sony Ericsson w850i sure can’t wait to put my itchy hands on the 3G services which will be rolled out by DiGi and Times Dot Com anytime soon. On January 25, 2008 DiGi and TDC signed a definitive accord on 3G spectrum (source: theStar).

Exactly one month ago, I wrote an article on DiGi Yellow Postpaid which covered thoroughly the charges for prepaid plans. I was contented with Fuyoh last time. However, this 3G and postpaid news comes at the right timing. I am actually considering to switch from digi prepaid to digi postpaid (1 Plan). For the past three months my mobile phone usage has surged up to above RM60 per month. The highest it went was in December (festive seasons) where it amounted to almost hundred ringgit. Woaw… This is too much for me to swallow.

Cibol and Alvin are the only one I know who are on digi postpaid. I am actually putting my eyes on Postpaid 1 Plan. 13 sen flat rate!!! I can opt for call instead of sending texts soon. I mean one text cost 15 sen sedangkan one minute phone call cost 13 sen. It’s really my kind of deal, what more can I ask for? Moreover I can call my parents, who are using 012 and 082, at 13 sen per minute. That’s what a son should do often.

Look… I am looking for reasons to convince myself, not to persuade you, to subscribe to postpaid. I don’t mean to advertise on behalf of DiGi and the company pays me nothing for this post. Tak tahan lagi. Must change to postpaid once I am back at Kuching. By the way, I am taking my flight to Kuching on the evening of January 28.

Who’s interested to know the six numbers in my friends and family list? Hehe.

Yes, go for Digi 1Plan. I’m on that plan too :) What? Digi got 3G already? On lease as it was planned before or is the TimeDotCom’s 3G license will be handed over to Digi?

Sheesh, should’ve read the newspapers! And I haven’t got my latest issue of Mobile World Magazine yet.

According to our Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Lim Keng Yaik, he said that he had briefed the Cabinet and it has agreed to this 3G spectrum transfer exercise. Do not (cast) doubts that we will not approve it.

At the moment, we are still not sure when will the Cabinet approve the transfer. Maybe this year, maybe next year. Who knows? Let us just keep our fingers crossed so that we can enjoy 3G!

Speaking of 3G, you reminded me of WiMAX. Both the terms are just gimmicks for politician to spice up some party but in the end, look around you. Nothing is special at all, nothing. Actually I don’t really have high expectation considering our nation houses one of the lousiest broadband providers and a lot of talk cock politician cum businessman who only cares for their pockets.

i used it > 1 year. last time i prefer digi bcoz >123, all call to 016/0146 is free, include sms n mms.

regarding 3G, i m not tat interested on it. soon i believe end of this year or next year, wiMAX will be operational. tat is wat i m waiting for, u just imagine high speed wireless internet every where. means no need to use h/p next time, bring along a pda with u, receive email anytime, any place and use video call if u need…

Malaysian mobile phone providers teruk lah..

In Aus, we get super crazy deals.

30 bucks prepaid (which is valid for 6 months) can last me 3-4 months, with 300 minutes FREE calls to similar prepaid service.

If you go postpaid here, u get like heaps of free calls to ANY services and free sms-es too.

Countries such as Aus, US, UK just to name a few; give great deals.

We in Malaysia have to be content with what we have, not so much competition, hence the poor deals! Don’t even have deals for plan that comes with free phones, really free and not just gimmicks with small notes underneath for T & C for eligibility…
