Stop animal cruelty

In support of the Sarawak Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals (SSPCA) call for the stop of violence against animal, I would like to join hand in hand with blogger Didi to reach out to you bloggers and non-bloggers out there to be more civic minded when treating animals.

I couldn’t agree much that dogs do bite and cats do scratch, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we have to treat those animals in an ill-mannered way. We human are created by God with a logical brain and a loving heart. We human are created to take good care of the creations and creatures of God, hence animals.

In support of this call, considering my very own limited capacity, let us tell the world particularly Malaysians to treat animals nicely. Didi created a poll in her blog, please drop by to show your support. As for me, I am taking a more creative way in promoting this Stop Animal Cruelty campaign. I got myself a free magazine cover showing me posing happily with a ferocious tiger.

The power of a few persons is simply not enough, we need your help in spreading this message of love to others. I believe this campaign suits well to Catholics who are observing the season of Lent at the moment.

I am allergic to mistakes

While walking down the hallway at my faculty this afternoon, I saw this sort-of professional poster. Oh well, the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, Student Chapter Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (IEM-UTM) just had their recruitment drive. I like to read posters and notice posted on any notice board. I get the satisfaction in judging whether that poster is a thumb-up or a thumb-down. Usually, I will go scouting for spelling mistakes or grammar errors. During my undergraduate years, my friend Zhili and I really like to spend some time commenting on posters. Most of the time, we were taken aback by those mistakes and errors which should not had happened.

As to provide you a solid proof that I am not telling lies, I grabbed a shot of the poster with my new SE W660i.

IEM-UTM Recruitment

Look at it! I shall first address the first mistake (the use of past tense) and secondly the improper use of acronym. The organizer should have written the above sentence as “IEM-UTM is going to hold an INTERVIEW for the ExCo recruitment term 2008/2009″. Mind you, in English there is no such word as exco. I presume the organizer is talking about supreme council or executive committee or the Board. The correct acronym for Executive Committee is ExCo (Source: thefreedictionary.com).

It’s kind of “mempersiasoikan” for a well-known organization like IEM-UTM to make even a single silly mistake. I don’t care what kind of excuses they would give for making such mistakes should they stumble upon my blog by chance. Quite a number of organizations in my University failed to double check or have someone proof read their announcements/posters/notices/brochures and etc. To me that’s the most ridiculously thing to do.

A small mistake when portrayed means the organization or business is UNPROFESSIONAL. What’s next? I shall post some similar mistakes I found on PELTAC’s poster. I will!

Slim, Elegant, Chic

My recovery from the numb with shock of a terrible experience with an encounter with a bloody pickpocket was rather a swift one. Though he managed to snatch away my “babe” but he did not make me less Christian. Today’s Gospel (Matthew 18: 11-35) tells me clearly that I should and must learn to forgive. It was hard to forgive that bloody person at first, but I learned to seek for God’s forgiveness for my cursing words before I actually forgave that thief.

I am fine now! I got my SIM card replacement which does not cost me a single cent from DiGi after I reported a stolen phone to the Customer Service. Guess what? I bought a new phone. Ever since that experience, I tell myself several times that I am not going to look for a too stylish handset anymore. All I want is a plain simple yet at the same time svelte, refined and voguish phone to keep me company.

Here you go… Introducing you my new “girl” which I am playing with her anytime and anywhere. W660i - slim, elegant and chic. It has most of the functions I am looking for - decent Walkman, candybar keys for speedy SMSing, normal camera and hi-speed mobile wap. And most of all it looks plain normal from afar (to avoid pickpockets)! It’s almost excellent except for the lack of autofocus and flash light (do I need those?).

I just can’t take my eyes away from her even for a minute. She’s just so beautiful and superb. I still couldn’t figure out the reason for getting a black mobile phone despite my strong dislike for black colour. :)

In short,

Slim: Fits well into my hand and doesn’t seem bulgy when placed inside my pocket.

Elegant: Comes in a gold-black appearance, nice and firm to grip, easy on the eyes.

Chic: It has a compact 2.0 megapixels camera at the back arms, intriguing TrackID function, built-in 3G connection, friendly-to-thumb candybar buttons, and most of all a Walkman phone.

If you want to know more about this phone, do feel free to browse www.mobile88.com.my/mobilegallery/preview.asp , www.mad4mobilephones.com/news/636/ or www.hardwarezone.com/news/view.php.

Almost forgot to mention the price, it’s priced between RM700-800.

$^&#%^*#^!

Guys, something really bad happened today. I arrived at Puduraya safely today afternoon. After collecting our concert ticket at Stadium Merdeka, I went to KLCC with Ming Feng to meet my ex-classmates. They were Heng Giap and Hak Jeng, of which Heng Giap offered me a place to stay overnight after watching Jay Chou’s concert.

On our way back from KLCC to Ampang, I met a pick-pocket inside the public bus. My new handset, W850i, has been stolen by a f**king guy. I know I shouldn’t curse but I just bought that phone two months ago and I loved it very much, I am still loving it. I seek not your consolation or pity, but I urge all of you to be extra careful when you are travelling on a public bus especially in Kuala Lumpur.

As a result of that, I lost all my contacts which were all stored in my phone. I have barred my DiGi line. Not sure when will I have the time to reactivate it but as soon as I get my SIM card replacement I will let you all know. Anyway, Jay Chou’s concert was great! At least his concert gave me some comfort though losing a phone is a great pain to my pocket and my heart.

Please send me your contact number to my email at liewdaniel@hotmail.com or liewycdaniel@gmail.com so that I can have your record.
