The ugly side of MixFM

[feeling | sucks]

“Break for A Break” - a catchy slogan indeed! One of the premier radio stations in our country is inviting all listeners to “pecah”something that is valuable and dear to them in order to win themselves a trip to a great holiday destination. Okay now, it’s a holiday! I am glad that my favourite radio station is giving out holiday pakcages to their royal supporters through this contest. Everyone needs a break, especially those who are working.

What made we wanted to put up this post is that I found it very hard to believe that a once caring radio station who has a aired quite a number of caring community messeges are now encouraging their listeners to turn aggressive by breaking something they love most. There’s this time when Pietro was asked to break his PlayStation which he is very obsessed to in order to win a trip to a holiday destination with his wife. Pietro’s wife will be more than happy to see his husband destroy his PlayStation, hence breaking his compulsive preoccupation with games.

Duh… What’s wrong with this contest anyway? Let me tell you, should it have been a holiday rewarded in exchange of “a break of habit” rather than “breaking things” I would really support such kind of contest. However, this sort of contest promote destructive behaviour, all because for the sake of a materialistic chase for a holiday. Come to think about it I will not be tuning in to MixFM from 10 March 2008 to 5 April 2008 simply because I don’t see it as something to be proud of from this radio station.

Lucky me who is now staying in Johor has more options to choose, I can always tune in to HitzFM or other Singapore’s radio station. I remember the last time I dissented MixFM and MyFM, the former is an English station while the latter is a Mandarin station, was during the General Election 2008 period. I got so sick with both the radio stations telling (hypnotizing) listeners to cast their votes to BN for the betterment of our beloved country. Total bullshit!
