Just ask yourself who you think of when you are listening to love song

This question strike my dumb mind hard enough. Last night while surfing the Internet I somehow came across this film titled The Love of Siam which was released in December 2007. It’s a new movie though! What caught my attention was the tag “Just ask yourself who you think of when you are listening to love song” as written in the soundtrack of this movie. The beautiful faces and handsome figures of the young actresses and actors also contributed a part in drawing me into watching this movie through online streaming.

Two young boys are best friends living quiet family lives in Bangkok. Their lives are disrupted when one boy’s older sister goes missing on a jungle trip. The shattered family moves away, separating the boys. Years later, now in their late teens, the boys meet again. One of them is now the leader of an aspiring boy band whose managing assistant bears a striking resemblance to the lost sister. The boys must deal with their family and their social lives…..

The plot focus on mainly the kind of love-hate relationships faced by teenagers (teens with their peers and teens with their family) these days as well as disastrous family problems. A girl has a crush for this boy while the boy doesn’t like that girl instead he has a feeling for another boy of his age and etcetra. I assure you that his is not a gay movie or a homosexual movie…

“If you love someone, can you bear losing that person? But can you live without loving anyone at all? What about the rest of your life?”
~Mew (The Love of Siam)

This is a family movie. The whole message is about general love. It tells us even though our love may not be answered, we can still learn from it, and we should be grateful that, at least, we are once capable of loving.

I would like to highlight some of the observations I got after watching this movie. Well, these are mainly some of the traits in todays teenagers. Arghh, I know I am no longer a teenager but I do carry most of them into my adulthood. Perhaps I am still having my butt comfortably glued on a sound university environment.

Isaac: You are so… I don’t know what to say… It’s true we have to learn to love ourself and know ourself well before we actually go and love others.

Moja: you will love the movie. I once thought Thais only produce horror movies, i.e. The Shutter, never did I know that they are equally good in producing such love-themed movie. I’m not sure if they are available on VCD or DVD at the moment.
