The Prayer of St Francis is a Christian prayer for peace. This prayer is attributed to the 13th century saint Francis of Assisi. I find this prayer beautiful as it reminds us the virtues that we mankind need. It clearly brings the message and affirmation to love, to forgive, have faith, have hope, to bring joy, to give moral and emotional strength to those in need, to understand others.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubting, let me bring your faith;
where there is despairing, let me bring your hope;
where there is darkness, your light;
where there is sadness, let me bring your joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I might seek not so much to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand not so much; to be loved as to love another.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are now pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are now born to eternal life.
John Michael Talbot, a singer-guitarist produced a song called Peace Prayer. The lyrics are almost the same as that of the original prayer. Enjoy! Clare, I know you will love this.
