Writing on the wall

Time to remain cool. It is not the time to point fingers at anyone. I know the not so exciting experience you have had when trying to access danielliew.com.

Database all gone. Older posts have been laid to rest. All blogrolls have gone (lucky I subscribed to some of your feeds). Everything seemed so dead, I for once thought of giving up blogging as I received this devastating news from my hosting company that something bad happened had occured.

Considering that I shall not give up, I decided to build up this site again. I will not cease to continue writing because I know you have had a great stay here, at least some of my readers told me so. Their words are like honey and milk to me, sweet but not deceiving.

If you could still recall a post titled “it is not important after all“, I do mean what I said. All this is not important now, it is time to start afresh. As engineers are good in building and restructuring things, so shall I.

“What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.”
T.S. Eliot (1888-1965)

I hope you are kind enough do drop your blog address in my comment section so that I can keep in touch with you.

Okay, it all happened on a Friday 13! What a coincidence?!

Note: Posts between the period of April 28 to June 10 has been retrieved. Guess what? This is my first post written on June 14, 2008 although this domain was officially registered on April 29, 2008.

Awww… so sorry about your lost posts… didn’t the hosting company backup all the servers? The database?

Maybe you can import all your posts from your previous lovepress blog again…

All the best to you… keep on blogging! *thumbs up* But like your mobile phone, do a regular backup for your database too ;)

Melbie,
Let’s just say it’s a new start. Things happened for a reason and I see there’s no reason to be sad with such loss. I’ll keep blogging, coming back bigger and better. Thanks for the reminder, I will backup regularly.

Moja,
It’s okay man. My blog does mean a lot to me but there are times we have to learn to let go so that new things will come.

IngChia,
Don’t feel terrible, instead you should feel glad. Thank you for your support.

ColourfulWorld,
Let’s hit the host with a hose? Haha. Well, let’s rebuild our own blog again. It’s going to be hard especially when we have to start from scratch. Perseverance!

IF by Rudyard Kipling

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
‘ Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And - which is more - you’ll be a Man, my son!
