I could not hook up with Google (the most powerful search engine) for the whole night. Tried disconnecting and connecting as what UncleSeng suggested but to no avail.
Just managed to get myself connected this very morning. Stupid, don’t you dare think that I stay awake the whole night just to try connecting to the Internet. Sleep is more important than the Internet. If you are wondering how I managed to successfully hook up with the Internet, let’s follow some simple steps recommended by UncleSeng.
Simple Steps
- Go to Start Menu > Run (for Windows user).
- Type the following: ping www.google.com /t into the form.
**Generally if Google (64.233.189.99) is accessible, the chances are you can access most sites . - If you get a nice ping (<200ms), or a moderate ping (200ms - 350ms), you may choose to remain with the current IP. If you get a bad ping (>350ms) or many timeouts, proceed to the next step.
- Open up your modem / router admin page. Normally the IP will be 192.168.1.1.
- Disconnect your current connection and reconnect.
- Repeat all steps until you can get a nice or moderate ping.
I am currently running on 60.50.x.x, that is after following the simple steps. I got a ping of 230ms which is well in between the range of 200ms-350ms (moderate loh).
I ran a simple test on speedtest.net to get the results of the download and upload speed. I also tried the so-called speedometer introduced by Streamyx.
I guess no matter how many times we voiced out our dissatisfaction as a consumer who pays for the broadband it will just fall on deaf ears. TM does not care at all.
When DiGi rolls out its brand new 3G and broadband services, I will definitely give it a try. At least I have more confidence in DiGi than in TM though the former is a new kaki.

It’s like forever for telco companies in Malaysia to roll out their services and when they did, it’s always ‘available only for klang valley’. Hmmpffttt! I am saying that because I am not in Klang Valley now
Digi is quite reliable, I am using their EDGE service, just it is not fast enough. hopefully with WIMAX, Digi will give the customers a better connectivity. Definitely looking forward to try it.
Streamyx is behaving that way, never improve itself but busy luring customers with fancy adverts because it has no competitors. Competitions bring the best to the customers, we need more players in the industry.
Aik .. same on as uncleseng… hehehe ..
I use to have this prob at my home tooo … there is one time where the internet continue like this for days … until my bro told them “IF you don’t fix it by tomorrow, I will cancel streamyx the day after that” …
Then, someone or whoever gives us back the internet …
Tried Maxis broadband before.
the services even worse than streamyx.
Hope tat DIGI is better.
bongkersz,
Klang valley - the so-called most populated area and the pioneer among other states. It’s the center-of-attraction! That’s why many companies are eyeing that particular valley.
We all know that monopoly will not spur competitiveness and innovation. TM has no one to competition at all. Take for instance, a DiGI Postpaid subscriber is charged RM0.13 per minute and a TM Homeline subsriber is charged RM0.86/RM0.43 per minute [rate calculated based on 10sen/7sec for peak and 10sen/14sec for off peak] for making a call between East and West Malaysia. Even DiGi prepaid subsriber pay less than that (RM0.48).
DD,
At first I thought my blardy housemate was downloading movie using Thunder (XunLei). I have been trying hard to load my Gmail and other webpages but to no avail. I wanted to proceed to his room to screw him but luckily UncleSeng msned me. If not there would be a fight between me and my housemate. LOL.
cloudet,
I’ve never tried Maxis broadband or Celcom broadband before. But I know the wireless services provided by UTM is superb! Haha.
