My heart was thumping when I saw something has just got bigger and better, yet more confusing. Just let me share my two cents on the current New Postpaid Plan rolled out by Digi. I am a faithful subscriber of Digi but it seems that the last time I blogged about my telco was three months back.
Time is ripe to cover the latest postpaid plans introduced by Digi. The new plans are DG20, DG50, DG150 and DG250. Let’s put it this way, since my monthy usage is generally somewhere in between RM50 and RM90 so I will just compare my current 1Plan with the new DG50.

My current 1Plan charges me,
SMS: 1sen (FnF), 5sen (Digi-Digi) and 15sen (Digi-Others)
MMS: 5sen (FnF), 25sen (Digi-Digi) and 50sen (Digi-Others)
On the other hand, the new DG50 charges,
SMS: 1sen (FnF) and 10sen (Digi-Digi & Others)
MMS: 5sen (FnF) and 20sen (Digi-Digi)
The call rate of the two plans is the same, fixed at 13sen per minute.
I am making a little bit of comparison for the two plans, hope it helps you to decide whether to stay on with your 1Plan or move ahead with DG50. The two tables below shows the total amount I spent on my bill from February 2008 to June 2008.
If you look at the tables carefully (please click to enlarge the tables), you notice that I get to save a little bit more with DG50. It appears to be so. In my study, I found out that when the total of texts sent to non-Digi contacts and Digi contacts (excluding FnF) are in the range of 110-146 texts and 115-134 respectively, the new plan will be 1 or 2 bucks cheaper.
This rule, however, is not complied when I sent more texts to Digi contacts (excluding FnF). If you happened to send more texts to Digi friends, then Digi 1Plan is the plan you should choose because it only costs 5sen instead of 10sen.
I will stay with my current plan unless I see the need to switch to DG50 in the future. If there’s a better promotion then will I switch immediately. ; )
If you are a 1Plan user, will you convert to the new plan? Your thoughts please.

What happened to being simpler than the other telco?
This is too complex. Hence I’m not going to switch.
wow, you are good at calculation man, just so you know, it was so right.. I am a digi staff myself, I do aggree with you if you choose to stay, unless if you send more sms to non-DiGi numbers. since many of users now using non-DiGi, so DG50 will be the best option. if more and more of your friends is using DiGi numbers, then 1PLAN should be the plan to choose
i am using 1PLAN and i am sticking with it
Charlie,
Thanks for the comments. From time to time I will criticize or praise this Yellow telco.
shag,
The most complicated telco is still Celcom. The rates are just so terribly hard to be memorized. Digi made a comparison on the rates of Celcom, Maxis, UMobile and Digi. I’ll write a post about that soon. =)
uner,
Ooh. I like numbers. Numbers are always special, figures are fun to be interpreted. It’s good to have you to comment here, I’m sticking with 1Plan!
bongkersz,
Yeah! Way to go 1Plan. The reason I stick to 1Plan is that I sms more to Digi friends than to others. It’s not time to change. Haha.
I don’t see any improvement over my family plan thingy.. I call/sms/mms my dear, my bro and a few people free of charge..nice! Unless DiGi gonna come out with a better plan, I stay where I am for now!
gaTO,
What happened to your site? I saw nothing except a blank template. Is everything okay?
Very nice!!
