Just so if you noticed, the tagline of danielliew.com has been changed. This time I have chosen three keywords for this blog. It reads Serenity, Courage and Difference. Forget about the previous tagline As It Is. Okay, I am back to my usual business - research, blogging and church activities.
Not much to cover the two days event of the Second Annual Malaysian Student Leaders Summit (MSLS). There are a few patches (research) to catch up for this week, hence please remain patience while I try to put my thoughts down on this blog. I know some of you like reading and the fact that I write boring stuffs might turn some faithful readers off.
One thing for sure, I can’t yet say my perception has totally changed but somehow after the event I have gained a better perception about some national issues. Elites, I would use to describe the participants who attended MSLS. I will just leave the rest in the next few post.
Back to the tagline, as defined in Oxford Dictionary, the three words means:
Serenity (noun): calm and peaceful.
Courage (noun): the ability to do something dangerous, or to face pain or opposition, without showing fear.
Difference (noun): the way in which somebody or something has changed.
These three words were derived from Reinhold Niebuhr, a Protestant theologian best known for his study of the task of relating the Christian faith to the realities of modern politics and diplomacy. He said this, “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
There is a reason as to why I chose this quote. You will get to know why in my next post (it’s still in draft mode).
My voracious appetite grew to a point that I bought two books from MPH for my reading pleasure. One of my friends recommended me the title Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom. The other book I bought was The Last Lecture of Randy Pausch. I saw a short video clip of Prof Randy Paush from YouTube the other day. I thought the lecture was good so I bought his book.

Just something to add to the new tagline, I want to stress that this blog will still remain a personal blog - it will be a place where I share not so much about who I am but my views on matters. I am moving away from revealing the tits and bits of my life, will focus on jotting down some of my experience, encounters and views instead. That’s the direction I have set.

a continuation of the serenity prayer…
living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time.
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace.
Taking as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.
Trusting that You will make things right if I surrender to Your will.
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.
=)
Oh I like you tagline… and you know what? I’ve been thinking to write something else apart from what’s going in with my life for the very same reason - I’m think that I’m boring my readers! LOL! But too bad, I don’t know what else to write ..
our blogs should be personal since it’s the closest thing we can have with us right?
I love Tuesdays with Morrie! Must buy!!! The movie’s good too! You can watch it on youtube, I heard!…I cried when I saw it on Astro.
You’re the thoughtful one, thanks for always giving me wonderful prayers. Just to let you know that I will be in Singapore from 16-17 August. =)
Go for it melbie. Go for it. Just a quote from Tuesdays With Morrie, “The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. and you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn’t work, don’t buy it.”
The blogging culture which we are seeing now is either focusing too much on the material possesion (eg: ads) or mainly writing crappy stuffs. I don’t feel good writing these stuffs, what I am happy with is jotting down experience, encounters and views so that my readers have a better understanding of who I am and what my thoughts on some issues.
Melbie, you’re not too bad in blogging la. I am sure you will think of something else to write apart from your your dillie-daily life.
I do agree that blogs are personal. The closest thing that I can have with me is human, afterall they are the ones who have stood and will stand by me. Blog, to me, is a platform to express. It’s one of the closest thing to me but it shall never surpass human connection.
I see that you are cashing out money from Nuffnang. I still have a long way to go. Gotta work hard!
I bought Tuesdays With Morrie. After reading half of the book, I am telling myself that I’m going to get “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” as well. Since it’s the paperback version, it’s rather affordable for students like me.
noted down on my diary alredi! =)
let me know when it’s a good time to meet up ya? that is if you are free.
i gave u my hp, ya?
I just cash out hopefully to get my 1st pay cheque aka b’day present from nuffnang before I move to Singapore but I don’t think it’s possible since I’ll be away before it reaches my beloved home.
Don’t worry la, you’re in my daily click list for some period of time already
