Jom makan daging itik!

If there’s some good food in the vicinity of Skudai, it has to be Senai’s famous Deep Fried Pipa Duck. Living in the indulgent shadow of the holidays right now, I sprung to Senai straight away after all the fun at Desaru.

Chinese food is still the best as its richness in tastes excites all the taste buds in our tongues. Chinese food doesn’t make me sick. In fact all food, be it Malay, Indian, Dayak, Mexican, Nepal, Mexican or Vietnamese food goes well with my taste buds.

Main dish of the day - pipa duck『琵琶鸭』is deep fried to golden perfection. The skin crispy while the meat was juicy. Sweet and sour plum sauce was added to perfecting its taste. Yummy!

Next we had salted vegetable and bean curd for soup 『咸菜豆腐汤』. Shouldn’t have ordered this because we swallowed too much of sea water which is to my knowledge, salty.

Sweet and sour pork『咕噜肉』! Rich in taste and in colour, this sweet and sour pork taste good!

Yet, another dish of tofu! Claypot tofu『沙堡豆腐』. There’re some prawns, cabbage, peas, carrots and eggs to go along with the fried tofu.

A plate of sweet potato leaves『清炒蕃薯叶』goes well into our stomach. I love the stems and leaves of this vegetable. It just tastes different than other types of vegetables, I just can’t describe the texture of it.

What about you? What good food have you eaten lately? I bet you have all those turkey or steak to go along with wine during this Christmas season. Let’s make a post about it. =)

PS: It’s weekend and holiday ends at November 29 because it’s Awal Muharram (Maal Hijrah). This is the day which Muslims observe on the first day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar. Happy New Year to all Muslim friends! (Sorry for the pork..)

Eating the right thing for supper

The feeling of being away from home for five months is like five long dragging years. Yet, a packet of Sarawak’s very own delicacy - Kolo Mee quenched my desire to go back home. Though it is momentarily but I am happy enough.

The texture of the mee…

The char siew and minced pork…

Chillies as topping and flavouring…

The final product… Kolo Mee!

This is the “tabao” version of Kolo Mee, so please bear with the simplicity. Nothing is better than food from home. Many thanks to my housemate, Victor, who brought this Kolo Mee all the way from Kuching. Wishing him all the best for his technical paper presentation tomorrow!

Korean dinner on a cold night

[feeling | yummy]

Out of the blue, on a rather cold night, ColourfulWorld and SI decided to bring me along for a dinner. This time we tried something special. The last time I joined them for dinner was at Island Red Cafe. This time they had a better idea, Korean style!

This Korean restaurant is situated at south-bound of Senai Airport. Restaurant BBQ Korea Palm Jang Won is its name.

Steel spoon and chopstick, which I am so not used to it. I think this is what the Koreans used. I am proud to be a Chinese because I like our traditional chopsticks better!

Eleven side dishes and one nian gao which cost only 15 bucks. The good thing is that the side dishes can be refilled.

TaDa! Korean KimChi steamboat! There’s dumpling, beef, pork, egg, onion and quite a lot of unidentified food inside. Overall, it was okay, not too hot nor sour. This pot of steamboat cost only 45 bucks.

I am so full now! We took about one hour to enjoy your dinner. My rating for this restaurant is 8/10. Next time I am going to try the grilled meat!
