Water crisis

The chronological of water crisis in Malaysia:

Feb 17, 2010 - Water crisis in Kluang

The Sembrong Timur treatment plant which supplies water to about a third of the Kluang district may be shut down. The prolonged drought in the area since May has seen the water level at the plant drop below the critical level of 0.5m to 0.1m. (read more)

Feb 20, 2010 - Water crisis making dams in Johor save every drop

Johor water authorities have been directed not to release water from dams, especially those used for flood mitigation, and to conserve water where possible. (read more)

Mac 11, 2010 - Dry weather puts Kemaman on alert

The current hot spell and lower rainfall in catchment areas have sparked a water crisis in Kemaman where some 200,000 consumers have been warned to conserve water as the situation could worsen. (read more)

Mar 12, 2010 - Use water with care

All Johoreans need to be prudent in using water, not just those affected by the water rationing exercise by Syarikat Air Johor Holdings Sdn Bhd (SAJH) (read more)

Mar 12, 2010 - Drought brings ‘autumn’ to Miri

THE prevailing drought coupled with the hazy weather has given Miri a touch of autumn. Trees are shedding leaves because of a lack of rain, flowers are falling to the ground due to the heat, and grasses on the ground are turning brown like in autumn in temperate countries. (read more)

This is certainly not a game to play. The state of Johor, Negri Sembilan, Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak has been hit with water crisis. I still thank God that here in Klang Valley, dams supplying water to consumers were still at 90% capacity. But that doesn't warrant that it's going to remain the same considering the dense population and industries in Klang Valley.

The message here is to conserve water in the very little ways that we can.

Exactly Two – The Unseen Statistics

Call it peer pressure or marvelling in virtual vanity, I dreamed of one day having my name in lights. Perhaps a name in Science Direct for my composite slab research works. Maybe as a legacy which I can leave behind after calling it a day on Earth. Suffice to say, none of these are going to happen yet. I still dream this dream. On a happier note, acquiring my own domain name and slowly building up my presence.

Let’s get done with my dream. Exactly two happened exactly two years after 19 December 2007. I shall close my eyes to my previous blogs because I have no statistics to swank about. In fact, I did not care about the statistics back then.

Most of my friends probably know that I first started blogging to post announcement on assignments, making commitments in front of my witnesses (my friends) and probably update my current state of life. From a small circle of university friends, slowly I get to know some other new people who visited my blog (and is still loyal) and those whom I dropped by their blog. That was how it all started - sweet thing.

I remember vividly back then I really like to experiment with different themes. Young, naive and curious I was back then. So much so that people start "complaining". Now, I stick to my favourite theme like a sticky tape on a piece of paper.

Inspired by Marvin, I decided to follow his suit - to evaluate this blog.

Google Analytics 2008

Analytics for 2009

Looking at Google Analytics, I sub divide the statistics to two years - 2008 and 2009. I only learned about Google Analytics four months after setting this blog, hence there is no complete data for 2008. Taking average, in 2008 my daily visits is 66 while monthly visits stands at 1,978. In 2009, this blog welcomed 100 daily visits and roughly 3,014 visits monthly. However there is no significant growth for page views, which I have no idea why (perhaps you can tell me ).

Akismet

To date this blog has received 2,630 comments and 9,218 spams (filtered by Akismet). Hmm...

From my Feed Burner, I get to know that I have 40 plus friends following my updates and my occasional rants. I know you are reading this, I just want to let you know that your quiet presence is my moral support. Thank you. I wonder if my quiet readers will come to me say HI one day when we bump into each other on the streets of KL?

Soalan cepu emas (golden question): How much do I earn from blogging after I decided to received ads? So far I managed to earn a total of USD70.67 from Google Adsense and sponsors combined. I also have RM88.30 from the local Nuffnang. Not much actually, but enough to pay for my domain hosting. Despite this modest amount, I shall take this as a stepping stone to achieve more.

There are a lot of improvement to be made for the long term. For the time being, I learned that it is important to be persistent, consistent, truthful and thoughtful in blogging.

Get a life, get a walk

If you are reading this, I know you are perfectly fine but not necessarily healthy. Perhaps, your heavy butt had been sticking on your office for say 9-5, or even longer than that.

I am offering you one good reason for yourself to start being healthy again. This time around Kraft Malaysia will be organising Jacob's Walk of Life 2009. Last year more than 5000 people turned up for this walk at Taman Pertanian Malaysia, Shah Alam.

This year the walk will be held at Taman Metropolitan, Kepong. Kepong isn't exactly that far if you have the will to go there.

I am seeing you there!

Date: 21 June 2009 (Sunday)
Time: 6am
Venue: Taman Metropolitan, Kepong

There will be casts from MyFM and HotFM there. Alongside are sponsors Fitness First, Anlene, Spritzer, Mizuno and is endorsed by the Ministry of Health. Can get a free T-shirt and grab soome goodies as well.

On another note, I just committed myself to a One Hundred Pushups program. Push ups, sit ups and jogging are the best exercise to me because they are free and can be done anywhere anytime. This is not a try but a serious commitment. After six weeks or so I will make it to 100 push ups. Today I only managed to make 29 push ups.

Look at the guy above? You'll see my body figure somewhat similar to him soon.
