Nokia 5800 updated with Kinetic Scrolling and Home Screen
Goodness grace! My heart literally jumped out from its chamber when I knew of Nokia rolling out a V40.0.005 update for Nokia 5800. The wait was a gruesome one as it takes more than a year for Nokia to meet the yearning of millions of 5800 users.
The wait is no more. I've downloaded the update for my smartphone via OTA by entering *#0000# on my dial screen, then go to options- check for updates. Otherwise, you may also perform the download via NSU by connecting your phone to the PC and check with Nokia Software Updater application or Ovi Suite if the update is available.
The previous update was November 2009 dupped V31.0.101. On what you can experience with this MAJOR update, you can go to the two links I provided below because I am not going to write a long post here.

What to expect from the new update? Here's a compilation of the improvements reported by other tech enthusiasts.
* Kinetic Scrolling (everywhere except: Main Menu, Application Menu, Browser)
* New Home-Screen, similar to that of 5530, with Contacts Bar (20 contacts)
* Auto rotation on text input (Automatically activates the QWERTY keyboard in horizontal mode)
* Fixes minor bugs
* Performance improvements, Improved stability, Touch more responsive
* Ovi Contacts installed
* Removed Download! (Ovi Store still available)
* Replaced “Update Application” with “SW Update” as on the Nokia N97
* The application “Data transfer” was also implemented in “Settings”
* Real Player Updated
* Slide to Unlock during call
* New contact & music widget
* New screen incoming call, only when the screen is locked
* New screen alarm, but only when the screen is locked
* Refresh Icons “Sharing Online”, “Configuring Accessories”, “Configure Phone”
* In the settings menu there is a new icon for ‘Phone Switch’
* NOT HACKABLE!!

hey daniel.
interesting website you got there and blimey im a new user of a 5800
thing is, i tried to update the software via OTA/manually through OVI but it says not available. why is it so?
hope you could email me back instead.

Hi clara. Since you said there’s no update currently OTA, I need to know two info from you: 1. Which country are you staying and 2. Your current version (V20 or V30).
The update depends on the country you are staying. Since you said you are new I assume your phone has been installed with the latest version. Correct me if I’m wrong.
