Yesterday
Yesterday, oh yesterday! I shall remember all the yesterdays. Yesterday was Christmas, my last Christmas here in this small town called Skudai.
After a good two hour nap due to the exhaustion after coming back from Desaru, I headed to Uncle Heng's house for our annual Christmas dinner. Each family, about fifteen of them prepared a dish each. Bachelors like me did not contribute much except helping to clear the food. Hehe.
Yesterday was also the last caroling cum Christmas dinner. Everyone was so happy and indulging themselves during the Christmas dinner. I remember Father Jojo Fung, SJ, in his homily on Christmas eve reminded us to remember the true meaning of Christmas and hold true to it.
To others, Christmas may mean celebration, partying in the pub, revelling on the street, or a simple dinner. To most, it is about Christmas tree, exchanging gifts and even Santa Claus. Most importantly, to us Christians, Christmas means "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth" as written in John 1: 14.
So this is Christmas! The Word made flesh, EMMANUEL (God is with us)! Do you experience God in your life and in others? I do.
There were lots of people present and the mood was certainly jolly. Seeing everyone so high spirited it kinda cheered me up.

Jason, Anna, Aunt Jin Er, Uncle John, Jia Jun, Eric, me and Jonathan.

Double J! Same dark spectacles, same Christmas hats, and most of all very dark looking. LOL!

Our caroling team. Just a shot before the sun set. All had been working hard for the Christmas carol.

Here's Eric the mouse munching and chewing the beef satay. Told him not to dodge the camera, so this is the result for not heeding my advice.

Little Jeremy celebrating his 9th birthday. Happy Birthday!
Looking back on how it was, in years gone by and the good times that I had, makes today seem rather sad happy. So much has changed. All my best memories come back clearly to me, some can even make me cry laugh. Just like before, it's yesterday once more.
Met up with Hak Jeng, his girlfriend together with Uncle Seng and SI for lunch. After which we had a leisure walking in Sutera Mall. I am going to try some Mexican food tomorrow! ElMigos, I am coming!
A day at the beach
We got so crazy today! 645am we were already on the road to one of the famous beach in Johor. The decision was made last night when I met a few friends during Cheok's performance at Rose, Danga Bay. Last night was a crazy night cos I was "dragged" to sing in public, menyiasoikan only as I couldn't act spontaneously.
Back to this morning, about one and a half hour later we arrived at the other part of the beach called Tanjung Balau. I highly recommend not this beach because I could see effluent (waste water) being discharged untreated to the sea. The colour of the water is almost brownish in colour with bubbles. Darn those oil palm factory!
Instead we went to Desaru, 11km from Tanjung Balau. Desaru it was. Coarse sand and big waves greeted us as we took off our slippers. The weather was so nice, cool that is to say.
I love this shot, being a very special shot it is I almost cost losing a camera. The camera was placed on the sand and the timer set on. Just after this shot, the wave was like going to sweep away my camera! Damn! I wonder where the water comes from but thank goodness Richard managed to save my Canon PowerShot A400 from being wallop by the sea.

After the dangerous act, risking my camera being drown, we decided to go towards the sea for a few shots. Attempt No.1 to jump i n the sea was not successful.

This is the Attempt No.2. Can't jump really high due to the strong water resistance, just an excuse for the weak legs. Haha.

That's it! A morning spent at the beach on a lovely Christmas Day. I did went to church hor on Christmas Eve, meaning I did not skip mass.
Merry Christmas to all the awesome people!
Caroling 2008
SCC Caroling 2008 has finally come to an end. Two nights of non-stop singing from house to house, amounting to 29 families, has brought the good news of the birth of Jesus Christ to all believers.
One month before caroling, we planned hard on arranging the smoothest route, arrangement with the families who invited us, making presents, practising songs, and prayed for a smooth caroling.
Sad to speak, this will be my last caroling with the people of SCC. Being the last time, this is the first time I arranged the route and being pushy to get those little snails (with red hats) moving from houses to houses on time. Jonathan, John, Jason and Calvin were the guitarists. Kai Wen and San San were our cute angels. Not forgetting our first-timer, Peter and Edward, as our young Santa Claus. Those making the team were youths and UTMers. =p

Many thanks also for the support from all aunties and uncles who accompanied us. I know you guys cared for us despite not joining the caroling team, yet still travelling with us to make sure everything is fine. I know you guys missed the fun of caroling too! Haha! Thanks.
Since I am so in holiday mood now, not planning to do any labwork this week except writing and analysis, I'd like to wish you Merry Christmas in advance. (So kiasu)
This morning before meeting with my co-supervisor, I went to decorate SCC. I'm glad Uncle David (our SCC caretaker) offered to built a huge manger. And also to Sharon, Shervin, Richard, Simon and Gabriel who helped out this morning. Come to SCC this Christmas Eve mass and you will see the surprise!
Now here is eight year old Connie Talbot performing the song "When A Child Is Born". Such an angel.
A ray of hope flickers in the sky
A tiny star lights up way up high
All across the land dawns a brand new morn
This comes to pass when a child is born
A silent wish sails the seven seas
The winds of change whisper in the trees
And the walls of doubt crumble tossed and torn
This comes to pass, when a child is born
A rosy hue settles all around
You got the feel, you're on solid ground
For a spell or two no one seems forlorn
This comes to pass when a child is born
It's all a dream and illusion now
It must come true sometime soon somehow
All across the land dawns a brand new morn
This comes to pass when a child is born
When a child is born
HO HO HO! Merry Christmas!
